Beginning each day at 7.50am, I will have the gym open for 8am so the first passengers can enjoy their workout with the music going and the air conditioning on.
After my gym check I will move to the aerobics studio to prepare for the first class of the day. It is important to be able to cater for all people in my classes as they can cover a wide age spectrum. I also need to remember that I have to be fun and full of energy for the first class so the passenger's day starts as they mean it to go on.
As a fitness advisor onboard, when personal training, it is essential to understand and act on the needs and goals of the client, from keeping off those extra pounds during their cruise to improving fitness, stamina, muscle tone or health and well being. I have to prescribe a program suited for the individual, therefore clear communication is a must. As I progress with each session, any products or prescriptions must be fully explained and demonstrated for client home use.
At the end of each day it is my responsibility to ensure the gym and aerobics studio is locked and in order for the next day. It is important to assess myself in order to further the service I can offer to my clients.
As a full time fitness advisor onboard you need to be full of enthusiasm, fun and able to think outside the circle. Enjoying my job is a plus but words cannot describe waking up in a different country each day.
