Working For Us > A Day in the Life of a Hair Stylist

A Day in the LifeMy working day begins at 7.50am, when I check my column to see what I need to prepare my work station for. Anything from a blowdry to a full cut, colour and restyle could be on the cards so I have to be ready and fully prepared for every treatment.

I then go and set up my equipment at my work station, get my dryer out and anything else I require for the day.

Next it's time to meet my first client. I always introduce myself and find out exactly how they want their hair as this is one thing that people are very fussy about so I have to listen very carefully.

Then it’s a matter of keeping to time. On a formal night I could have 15 ladies back to back which demands focus and speed. I cannot run behind as then it has a knock on effect! As a team member I am also needed when available to help any other staff who may need a hand - this could be sweeping their floor space or shampooing a client. Everyone helping each other like this goes a long way for the team spirit and I really appreciate it when I'm a little rushed myself.

When my appointments are over and done there's still a lot to do in the Salon to get it ready for the next day and again this is a team effort and can be a lot of fun!
